Job Placement and Support

 

Employment services supports the job applicant in refining the tools needed to obtain and maintain employment. Through career counseling, a balance is promoted between the personal, social and vocational aspects of life. Group discussion and individualized instruction facilitate the best matching of interests, skills and experiences with employer needs. Program length is determined by individual need.

Support in Getting the Job May Include
Job trials in the community
Vocational planning
Resume, cover and thank you letter development
Job leads and job sources
Assistance with job applications
Practice interviewing
Advocacy with employers on behalf of persons receiving services

Support in Keeping the Job May Include

Balancing personal and work demands
Problem solving on the job
Exploring career advancement opportunities
Gaining knowledge of pay and fringe benefits
Follow up for 3-12 months
Advocacy with employers on behalf of persons receiving services

Specialized Services*

Mid Missouri Deaf Services supports people who are deaf or hard of hearing in obtaining and maintaining employment.

Supported Employment assists people with significant disabilities in obtaining and maintaining employment through ongoing support services.

JobWorks provides job placement and support services to residents of Boone County. Programs are designed to serve persons with legal histories, extended periods of unemployment, and a lack of marketable job skills.
