Serving: 
Youth between the ages of 15-21 and teen parents up to the age of 21

Risk factors 

In custody (or recently moving from) Family Services Division, Youth Services or foster care

Non-traditional home environments (divorce, single parent, unhealthy living atmosphere)

Parents or youth receiving (or likely to receive) government assistance

Pregnant or parenting teen (Dads, too!)

School difficulty or failure

Rural area living

Social difficulties

 

Services available in:  Boone County

Programs

Teen Work

Prepares youth for self-sufficiency through job preparation, employment assistance, and structured work-site mentoring.

One to one match between youth and mentor in the workplace
At least six month commitment
Approximately one hour per week

Resource Parents

Provides adolescent parents with parenting and life skills training, and support through community based volunteer mentoring.

One to one match between youth and mentor
At least one year commitment
Approximately 12 hours per month

Teen Partners

Provides life skills training and mentoring for teens to become active community members, meet personal life goals, and transition smoothly to productive adulthood.

One to one match between youth and mentor
At least one year commitment
Approximately 3 hours per week

All Mentors

Successfully complete a criminal history and child abuse/neglect background check
Receive orientation, training and on-going support from staff
Provide written and verbal feedback to staff regarding the match

Workplace Programs

Business minded individuals with a vested interest in building a solid workforce and productive young people,
With a strong work ethic, and who are
Are at least 18 years old.

Community Programs

Individuals who are at least 18 years old,
Have some understanding of adolescent issues,
Parenting issues (where appropriate), and a
Good driving record

YMP mission: Empowering young adults to become self-sufficient members of the community through mentoring and training in life and job-readiness skills.
